Procsra.. Resiste.. blaaah!
Procrastination and resistance.
Such a bastard of a duo that lives permanently, (I don’t want to speak for others) in my mind.
Without fail, annually around the start of June I usually find myself in a rut of what the fucks, where did the year go, how have I not done this, that and the other yet.
I’m not yet sure if it’s the change of seasons, lunisolar with if the moon has just completed a half year count of cycles or the general feeling of the months getting on.
Knock knock, who’s there?
Goal setting.
We all know about it, how many of us apply it, what few of those conquer said protocols?
Thoughts are abrasive, intermittent with the task at hand yet I am a self admitted mistake when it comes to it.
So this half term I have gone with three life bullet points to achieve, one for myself, one for my family and one for the world.
I’ll let you in on my first noted down goal.
Less saying - More Doing.
Sounds simple, so simple it will be.
It does not have to be complicated, of course you won’t summit Everest overnight.
As the great Steven Pressfield noted in his 2011 masterpiece Do The Work;
“Don’t prepare. Begin. Our enemy is not lack of preparation. The enemy is resistance, our chattering brain producing excuses. Start before you are ready.”
He himself, an established author did not release his first publication until after his 50th birthday.
It is never too late to set a couple of goals to chip away with.
I think we can all agree that consistency is key.
My friend Theo, a self employed Personal Trainer in Sydney is a constant reminder of hard work to me.
If you do need a kick up the jaxy, I would be quick to steer you in the direction of his work and mindset.
I’d love to hear from readers about your own goals, or set backs, and how we could maybe climb over the walls together.
Be well.
